It was so sad to hear of the passing of my lovely Emmerdale colleague Sheila Mercier just before Christmas on 13th December, and my sympathy goes out to her two grandsons, daughter-in-law and other members of her family.
She was the first face recorded on Emmerdale in 1972, and she was extremely gracious and welcoming to me when I took over the role of Dolly Skilbeck a decade or so later.
I was honoured to contribute to a well deserved tribute to her on BBC Radio 4’s LAST WORD, along with Frazer Hines. Thank you BBC.
The programme will be repeated this Sunday at 8.30pm on Radio 4.
It can also be heard on BBC Sounds:
